Making Firefox Alert before Downloading Files

I'm using a wireless connection via fiber optics. So, of course, it's very fast. Most of the time, especially when downloading large files, that's a good thing. But I'm noticing that when I download really small files, Firefox won't even let me know that it's downloading and because it's all so fast, NVDA can't give me any hints with the progress beeps. Several times I thought that there was something wrong with a page and that it simply didn't move when I tried to download a file. So I attempted to download it a few times and then gave up. When I went into my downloads folder today, I saw two, three or even four versions of the same file, all because i had no clue that it was being downloaded. I'm not sure if there's anything that I can do about this, but it's very annoying, especially when I then start looking for other sources of the file only to then discover that I've had it all along. Yes, I could always check the downloads folder every time I grab something but is there a way to make firefox ask me if I want to download something instead of doing it automatically? It usually does, but not in the cases mentioned.

Got this answer from Klango, if anyone else is frustrated about this. Go to Add-ons and then do a search for navigational sounds. When you see the result, hit the add to Firefox/download button and it will install. This is bound to make things alot easier. *smile*
